Meir Pichhadze was born in 1955 in Georgia and in 1973 immigrated to Israel. Pichhadze began studying art as a child with the sculptor Razu Ramishvili and influenced by Georgian painter Nico Pirosmani and iconic Russian painters, he developed a distinguished and unique style of painting.
Pichhadze emerged as one of the most prominent painters in Israel and was presented by leading galleries and museums. In 1983 he began studying at the Kalisher art college in Tel Aviv. His work was primarily influenced by post-modern artists such as David Sela, producing figurative and abstract paintings, with geometric and organic forms in “industrial” technique and color. In the mid -1990’s, Pichhadze lived both in New York and Tel-Aviv. During his stay in New York he initiated painting images based on old family photographs from his childhood a theme he would practice up until his premature death in 2010.
